ART IN STORAGE

0 min read
This Summer, I finally got around to addressing the artwork that I have in storage. A few years ago, my apartment manager, during a routine inspection, said something to the effect of "...you can't use your apartment for all of this!"( I had my paintings nicely stacked in rows along a couple of walls but because they blocked off access to a small window, he said they posed a safety issue). So I had to rent a U-Haul truck and put the bulk of my artwork away. Sitting here reading my book on the painter Ingres, and he is quoting as saying something to the effect of, "drawing is everything- it is the most important part of art". Wow, I couldn't agree more. I have a life long lover: SCULPTURE!  She has never cheated on me; she has been unwavering in her love.  That is not to say that she has not caused me great sorrow- she has.  It is not to say that she has not been demanding- she has. But in the end, I am a sculptor at heart. If you cut me open, I would not be surprised if you find a fistful of clay instead of a muscle beating, keeping me alive! I have had two of my sculptures made into bronze and I must say that they are my pride and joy ("Rodin's Beard" & "Divasaur") and I think if they alone stand the test of time and represent me a hundred years from now, I would have no problem with that.
